today, i awoke with a gnawing fear that though chicago's winter didn't devour me, summer might do so.
i feared not being able to survive a chicago summer without contributing to the world's water crisis and using the shower 3x a day.
but tonight, i will go to sleep with peace and without fear.
today, i took steps to conquer summer (which mainly involved being reminded of the many things i love about hot summers... like how good it feels to go outside after you've been in the air conditioning, or the sun pouring vitamin d into your pores, or the way night smells so delicious and alive... among just a few).
it also did involve the purchasing of a few cheap clothing items. but i'm not sure it could be considered shopping therapy, perse... more like the purchasing of survival gear for camping or ammunition for a war.
some appropriate slogans or mottoes could be:
the war against summer is won one skirt at a time.
summer will be tamed by my $12 dress and soon we will walk hand in hand down the lake shore path.
shorts are to summer survival as GU is to marathoners....?
hmm...
and i only took one shower. :)
