i have an announcement to make!
as i've alluded to several times, i have begun running often.
why? why pound your joints against the pavement in a repetitive motion that produces sweating, soreness and blisters?
well, not only does it sort of feel good after awhile... (which, sounds slightly masochistic, as an afterthought to that sentence)
... i am running the Chicago Marathon this fall!!
and, not only am i running, i am participating as a charity runner which means i am running 26.2 miles (in a row.... on the same day....!) to raise money to support an organization.
the organization i am running for is the Alzheimer's Association (check out their site)! this past fall, my dad was diagnosed with early onset dementia. in an effort to honor him and run in memory of my uncle and grandpa, i am helping the Alzheimer's Association raise a few funds in their efforts against Alzheimer's and dementia.
now that this is in the open, there will, most likely, be subsequent blogs about the experience (as it has been QUITE the adventure already!). and, as i'm finding, comfort levels with various bodily functions and random physical events have been raised. thus, i will try to keep the non-runner reader in mind as i continue... but consider this a fair warning ;).
also, if you want to support my running (well, more directly, support the Alzheimer's Association :)), please visit my homepage and donate towards the cause!

thanks so much for your support, financial or otherwise!!
(we didn't plan on wearing the same color for this photo - seriously! :))
