i live a life where i constantly experience wonderful and funny moments. i also get to share many of these moments with some incredible people.
now, i have to write a blog and attempt to capture some of the wonderful funniness of this week...
Moment I:
on Thursday, i spent some time filming some of my coworkers at my internship. i will feature all of them eventually, but today, i want to introduce you to allah:
Moment II:
my roommate and i don't have many christmas decorations. the exception is our nativity scene. and it is very special indeed...
Moment III:
i went to the chicago symphony for the first time. in the hours leading up to the event, all i could think about was how much of a privilege it is to witness some of the finest musicians doing what they are born to do... what they presumably love to do? it was such an exquisite gift to see. additionally, i didn't just see the symphony, but i saw the 'behind the score' version. this is a new presentation in which the first act is an artistic, multimedia explanation of the symphony, its creation and inspiration. after a fifteen minute intermission, the symphony is then performed. it was lovely on many levels.
and following the symphony (which i attended with my new friend :)), we went to intelligentsia coffee. and i agree with my roommate that it is some of the best coffee i've had.
Moment IV:
ice skating in millennium park!
verdict: ice skating is cold and the skates are not comfy. but when done with friends, you no longer are grumpy!
my super sexy and hot rental skates. note the frayed toes. these felt like putting on concrete shoes.

i'm ice skating for the first time in my life!!! and i didn't fall. success!
my skating friends! (why is my skate off? well, my feet conveniently started cramping up when i got my rental skates. this was perhaps due to the combination of dehydration and freezing temperatures...) i must say, it is rare for me to be shorter than females in pictures. a nice change.
finally, a photo with the lovely krista (who writes an excellent blog, check it out!)
what i appreciated about krista this evening (besides just being awesome and also forcing me to spend the eve doing fun stuff instead of homework) is her view on the ice skating rink. she said that the rink is like a rare, happy place where people from all walks of life, from different backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses and ethnicities come and actually enjoy each other. everyone is happy in the ice skating rink.
then everyone gets off, the happiness ends and it's back to the normal angry indifference held by chicagoians (not all, just some).
but the ice skating rink... oh planet earth, hold on to those magic, happy moments on the ice skating rink. maybe it's unfortunate that global warming is occurring instead of the ice age...
Summary:
- i am privileged.
- i love the wonderful and funny people and events i am surrounded by.
- all good gifts come above... i wonder if jesus likes ice skating?
