some poetry slamming...

the format of this poetry slam was as follows:

7-8: open mic
8-9: featured artist (who was also the emcee... i wasn't impressed)
9-10: the poetry slam itself. two poets paired off in the best of 7 rounds. such a treat! both were excellent, though quite different in style of delivery and writing.

this poetry slam was held at the "green mill" which is historic here in chicago because it was formerly al capone's speakeasy. i wish i could've captured some of the more "historical" features of the interior, but bar lighting + iphone camera didn't allow that (gosh, this picture is terrible! it's center should be stage way, way up there and bar to the left)


here are my two fellow interfaith interns (and friends), marta and jason. the fourth individual in our party was not in attendance yet...
