i was looking for some music that was light, joyful, thoughtfully-worded and christ-centered. i usually avoid the normal christian artists because i don't find them the most highly original... but i'm always torn because music that's not centered on jesus lacks a spiritual element...
but much to my pleasure, i searched on itunes and tried out sara groves. it seemed to be a good fit. her album "add to the beauty" has blessed me with lyrics such as these:
"and I want to add to the beauty//to tell a better story//i want to shine with the light... this is grace//an invitation to be beautiful''
"love wash over a multitude of things//make us whole"
"spending my time sleep walking//moving my mouth but not saying a thing... i was in love with an idea//preoccupied with how life should appear... there are so many ways to hide//there are so many ways not to feel... and i just showed up for my own life//and i'm standing here taking it in... i'm going to live my life inspired//look for the holy in the common place... oh the glory of god is man fully alive..."
"and i am the moon with no light of my own//still you have made me to shine//and as i glow in this cold dark night//i know i can't be a light unless i turn my face to you"
"loving a person just the way they are, it's no small thing... we need grace either way."
"i believe you'll outlive this pain in your heart//and you'll gain such a strength from what is tearing you apart... i did not come here to offer you cliches//i will not pretend to know of all your pain//just when you cannot, then i will hold out faith, for you"
the glory of god is man fully alive.
