interim update... the weekend with connie & ms. smith blog to come...

it's been over a week since i've blogged! some of this is due to the reality that the newness of chicago is wearing off... i wish it wouldn't! some of this is also due to the fact that i am busy!! and some of this is due to some deep things happening in my heart and world.

nonetheless, here i am. i have a great blog in process that details my previous weekend with my aunt and her friend "ms. smith." there will be pictures, some video and other info (i don't want to hype things up).

this is a bit self-disclosing... but funny... to me... at least... tonight while doing laundry, i realized that i needed to launder the tank and bra i was wearing. so... i took both of and popped them in the laundry and then took the elevator back upstairs (with my laundry basket strategically placed).

on another note, i have been infuriated by these recycling bins placed around my campus that say "Chicago Recycles!" because chicago doesn't recycle and when people try to recycle, the garbage men throw it all into the garbage!! it has been appalling to me to throw away cardboard, plastic and other items in our garbage... ugh! it goes along with the irony of my school's policy on recycling. for their admissions packet, they only gave us a few sheets of paper and directed us to a website for the rest of the info because they are going paperless... this is ironic because for most classes, the professors want you to print off at least 30-70 pages of paper for various online journal readings! minor point... but ironic.

in the latter part of this week, i will be going to a school that is notorious for its gang violence and conducting an interview with a counselor there. i had fear, but then i remembered that other normal, white people probably work at that school safely, thus i will be safe too.

and... i'm considering brewing my own tea... perhaps more updates on that later!
