megs and katherine visited this weekend! they braved the cta trains, buses, cold weather and chicago marathon - such troopers!
our weekend heavily emphasized good food! here are the two of them at noon drinking $5 pomosas (like mimosas, but pomegranate!) at an AWESOME restaurant called "uncommon ground" www.uncommonground.com/ where they only serve dishes made from organic locally produced food!
here was my drink "ichabod's brew" a delicious tea with soy milk, pumpkin spice flavor and other uniquely tasteful ingredients...
and these are my delicious granola pancakes... oh yum...

later that night we went to a sushi restaurant called "Dib Inc." i've had sushi from a grocery store once, so i consider this experience to be my first "real" sushi! below is my delicious spider maki roll (soft shell crab, avocado and other bits of wonderful-ness)...

the picture that goes here is supposed to be one of the three of us. but where that spot is on my camera, it now says "unrecognized file format" :(.
my time with these two started with two kissing boys outside their first bus stop, held many good chats, the movie "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", cider, popcorn and the deep comfort that is found in being known.
it ended with the three of us trying to shimmy across the massive amounts of runners running the chicago marathon RIGHT around my house (it went up lake shore drive and down broadway - we were trapped!!). so i guess, technically, we were in the race for a moment! did you know that the winner ran it in 2:05:40... wow!
