the label of chicago as "my home" feels refreshing, idealistic and hopeful. i arrived at it while i was on break. during break, i went to iowa and spent much time with people and friends i love in places i love. what was so interesting, to me, was that there were several moments where i was with people whom i care for deeply, who love me well... and i thought, "i'm so happy here... but it is not home, it is not where i'm called/created to be."
i think, that is a good thing.
one other thing to note is the contrast of my travels home via mass transit now versus the ones of my early adventures :). it was a smooth experience from o'hare to the blue line to a taxi (as opposed to the amtrak -->red line train --> leah walking for blocks with luggage in the rain... all recorded in an older entry here and here).
i have grown :).
...is it terrible that i just made myself a reference for this post...?! oh narcissism and blogging...
anyway, hopes for this upcoming semester:
- new classes/new professors
- conquering and taming the DSM IV
- new clients/experiences
- maybe a trip or two abroad (current potential locations: lyon, france; herrnhut, germany; ethiopia, tunisia, rome...)
- maybe pursuing massage therapy??
- maybe getting a job?
- finding a spiritual director
- figure out some direction (more than just spiritually) for study
- going to the art institute (since i'm a member :)) and visiting the museum campus for the first time.
- riding ALL of the el train lines from beginning to end.
- more good food.
- and of course, having my eyes continue to be opened wide to all that chicago can offer.
