high holidays

it does not feel like it is time for thanksgiving or christmas!!

but regardless of how it feels, it is the most wonderful time of the year and i love it!!

last night, went to a play with a new friend :) at a wonderful "little theater" in the goodman theater. high holidays was the title. the verdict: hard to watch, but provided meat for good discussion!

this was followed by time at a pub drinking holiday cheer:
and reminding me that it is the season for dichotomies... holiday cheerfulness from being with my friends and family, yet sadness at the reminder of who is missing from the holidays... joy from my own abundance, but sorrow at the reality of the many in the world who are stuck in its vicious systems... hope from Lord and His promises, but a feeling of hopelessness experienced by those around the world.

may we live in this creative tension and feel fully alive.
