"these waves, they will not overtake you"

today i have officially been in chicago for three months.

i was looking back through my blog, trying to meaningfully reflect on the past three months...

...BUT the amount of school work and the increasing lack of general motivation to be intelligent is majorly interfering with meaningful reflection :).

but, just to make an effort... here are some of my thoughts...

- i've done more in chicago than i would've imagined... what will the next three months involve?

- saying yes is a good thing.

- i love the diversity of people i've encountered. i hope there is more in store.

- i've experienced more profound levels of pain than i ever have in my life.

- i've also experienced some of the best food (not counting chicago-style pizza, ironically).

- i feel i've begun to settle into myself.

- i've learned that i am not called to be a belly dancer or a professional hookah smoker.

- my worldview has been jilted and jostled more than i anticipated. for that, i am thankful and terrified.

- the lord IS with me.

i think this drawing epitomizes my experience here. it is based off of isaiah 43 (you can click on it for a bigger image) listen to the song "you are mine" while viewing (right click to open in a new window or tab):
